Starting Pokémon Moon

In the beginning there was the word. So many, many words.

God this is a slow start. There’s a hell of a lot of dialogue, the beginning takes place over three days, the animations are slow and can’t be skipped and the game is determined to tell you everything from the very start. Information overload early on, much worse than other Pokémon games.

But the music and the setting is cool. It does feel quite different from the very start, and the opening Pokémon designs are varied and range from cute to cruel. I picked the fire cat because I like the challenge that choosing a fire type starter usually brings. I was very tempted by the cute grass type though.

I’m enjoying the tone, but the pace really needs to pick up soon.
